Cityscapes landed on May 1, and yeah, it changed the way a lot of us started building Diamond Dynasty squads. The trick isn't just ripping packs or chasing one shiny card. It's knowing where the free cards sit, where the grind actually pays, and when spending MLB The Show 26 stubs makes sense instead of just feeling impatient.
Cityscapes Is A Points Grind, Not An XP Chase
The Cityscapes Program runs on 100 program points, with 20 stops along the path. You get small stuff early, then real roster pieces at 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 points. J.R. Richard, Willie McGee, Rollie Fingers, Brian Dozier, and Ian Happ are the five program cards, and all five matter because they feed the Cityscapes Collection too. So don't treat them like throwaway rewards. They're collection fuel.
The Fast Start Feels Pretty Clear
Do the Moments first. They're quick, clean, and worth 25 points before you even start messing with lineup builds.
Mission Lineups Save A Ton Of Time
After that, build around the city teams. Astros, Cardinals, Orioles, Brewers, Braves, Twins, Cubs, and White Sox players can knock out team Parallel XP while your hitters gather total bases, runs, and hits. Pitchers are useful too, especially if you're stacking innings and strikeouts in the same run. Once you earn Cityscapes cards, put them in right away. The 2,000 and 4,000 Cityscapes Series PXP missions are boring if you leave them until late.
The Main Collection Targets
The collection is where the drop starts getting spicy. Clay Buchholz arrives at 12 cards, Jimmy Rollins at 24, and Mickey Mantle at 30. Rollins and Mantle being switch-hitters is a big deal, especially for players who hate getting trapped by same-side matchups online.
| Cards Collected | Reward | Why Players Care |
|---|---|---|
| 12 | 92 OVR Clay Buchholz | Early pitching help. |
| 24 | 93 OVR Jimmy Rollins | Switch-hitting shortstop. |
| 30 | 93 OVR Mickey Mantle | Switch-hitting center fielder. |
Where The Cards Actually Come From
Pack cards are only part of the picture. The set also pulls from Program rewards, Diamond Quest, Mini Seasons, the Robin Yount Exchange, Chase Pack 8, and the collection itself. Aroldis Chapman is the big Chase card, while Michael Young and Dave Parker come through Diamond Quest. Robin Yount sits behind an exchange using 82-plus cards. Mini Seasons adds names like Franco, Kinsler, Edmonds, and Edgar Martinez, so offline grinders aren't left out.
Don't Sleep On The Inning Link
The 3rd Inning Program keeps Cityscapes relevant. There's a Deluxe Cityscapes Pack at 140,000 XP, which helps collection progress without panic buying.
Simple Priorities I'd Follow
1. Finish Moments before roster grinding.
2. Add Cityscapes cards as soon as earned.
3. Check free sources before buying pack cards.
Bobby Witt Jr And The Bigger Stub Question
Bobby Witt Jr. is a separate headache, because his name points to both the 91 OVR Live Series shortstop and the May Takeover content. His Live Series card has speed, defense, strong lefty contact, and plenty of useful quirks, but standard pack odds are rough at 1 in 4,000. If you want him directly, compare pack prices and live listings on the MLB The Show 26 marketplace before burning through your balance, because patience usually beats blind pack luck.
